“Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong. Let all your things be done with charity.”
In today’s devotional, we come to the close of the apostle Paul’s first letter to the church. After everything that he has discussed in his letter he tells them to quit acting like children and act like men. He says to be strong in their faith, in their place in the home and much more. Paul had discussed everything from working in the ministry, to covering the works and gifts of the spirit, to the necessity of love and charity in the life of a follower of Christ. He culminates his discussion by telling everyone in the church to stop fighting with each other, and be strong in love toward one another. In everything we do, it must be in the love of God and Christ. Ok our modern lives, we must take the words of Paul to heart. Yes, we live in a different time and culture from the one Paul found himself in. Still, we must not be in hostility with one another but rather dwell in the love of God and share that love with others.
