“For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope. Now the God of patience and consolation grant you to be likeminded one toward another according to Christ Jesus:That ye may with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.“
There is great comfort that can be in the scriptures, within the living Word of God. As the apostle Paul brings light to the Roman church about this comfort, we can rest assured in these words as well. Paul begins by telling the church how the written scriptures, which were inspired by God (2 Peter 1:20), were written for the the learning and understanding of God’s people that through patience and comfort we can have hope.
2 Peter 1:20-21
“Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.”
Knowing the leading of God’s spirit in the scriptures, Paul encourages us to be like-minded toward each other, to glorify God.Take great comfort in the words of Paul, in the scriptures. They are health to the body and soul (Proverbs 3:8).
