Questions About Your First Visit?
  • What can I expect when I visit the church for the first time?
    • We are a small community church where each person loves the Lord and loves each other.  While we believe that is the best thing about the General Baptist Church God's House of Prayer, we also admit that fact can sometimes be intimidating to a visitor.  Traditionally the church has always relied on a handshake and warm words of welcome, however since the Covid-19 pandemic started we have abandoned that practice.  We can promise you that everyone in the room will be glad that you decided to spend your Sunday Morning with us!
  • What is the worship service like?
    • Our typical service starts at 11am on Sunday Mornings, we begin our worship with singing then we go to the Lord in prayer as a church.  After prayer, we make time for anyone that has a testimony about what the Lord is doing in his or her life and any special song a person might have.  The children are then welcomed to move to our GB Kids program, while everyone else focuses on the preaching of the Word of God from the King James Bible.  The typical sermon lasts between 20-30 minutes, then everyone is given ample time to pray at the alters if they choose to do so.  It is during this time that the church people will be happy to gather around you, and pray for any specific need you might have.  We conclude our worship between 12-12:20pm.  Beginning April 17, 2022, we will resume our Fellowship Lunch after our worship service, where the people of God get a chance to sit down and visit with one another over a buffet style lunch.  Staying for lunch after the service is a great way to get to know the people, as well as a great way for them to get to know you.  There is no cost to attend lunch, but donations are accepted if you desire to do so.
  • What about my kids?
    • Providing kids with a safe environment to learn about God is one of our top priorities at the General Baptist Church.  We rejoice in sharing our singing and praying with kids in the sanctuary.  We expect them to be loud, energetic, and adorable.  We also know they are precious in the sight of the Lord!  We understand that a sermon is not exactly the best way for kids to learn about God, so we have GB Kids to help them learn and grow in their knowledge about God in a way that is tailor made for just kids.  Everyone working in GB Kids has been trained, and their background checked.  We also adhere to the highest standard of safety and protection policies for your kids while you entrust their spiritual learning to our care.
  • What do I wear?
    • We understand that the days of wearing the "Sunday best" exists only in our memories, and happily so do the days where church people were concerned about clothing.  Some Sundays, it is nice change of pace for a person to get dressed up.  Some Sundays, if we had to get dressed up we would not leave the house.  So, we leave what you choose to wear up to you, and find our joy in the fact that we get to spend a morning worshipping the Lord together.
